About
Kindness Matters
Why we're here...
Kindness Matters was started to honor Peyton James and all kids like him. Peyton was a funny and quirky kid who loved Dr. Who, gummy bears, Poke'mon, road trips, Bob Schneider music, books, video games and all animals. Starting in elementary school, he was bullied for his red hair, his glasses and for not being "cool." When he was 13, Peyton took his life. The lives of all those who loved him were never the same. Peyton's mom, Jacki, started Kindness Matters as a way to show people, both young and old, the power of their words. She hopes to show kids like Peyton that they're not alone and to, hopefully, keep other mothers from being in her shoes.

Introducing Kindness Conversations
Kindness Conversations are designed for small groups of less than 30 participants and last about 1 hour. It is broken down into 3 parts.
First, attendees will hear Peyton's bullying story and the reason Kindness Matters exists.
Next, participants will get to share their own bullying struggles and hear those of their peers. This portion gives participants the opportunity to talk about their bullying concerns in a safe environment and with peers they feel the most comfortable with.
Finally, we'll work together to create solutions that help all group members deal with bullying, feel supported, and work to build a culture of kindness within the organization and their larger community.
Kindness Conversations are ideal for school groups, church groups, scouting groups, youth sports teams and many others. There is no appearance fee, but travel fees may be incurred.
To find out more, send us a message using the Contact Us form at the bottom of the page.

Need help?
If you are being bullied, what can you do?
1. Get away from the situation. Don't argue or engage with the bully. Walk away. It's hard, but it really is the best thing to do. Â
2. Tell someone - tell a parent, teacher, coach or any adult. You do not have to go trough this alone!Â
3. Write down every detail of the bullying event that you can remember. Include the date, time and where it happened. Â
4. Stay off the internet! While posting about it on social media may get you sympathy in the short term, if rarely works out well for anyone involved. Â
5. If you feel physically threatened, call 911.Â
6. If you feel like you want to harm yourself, call or text 988 - The National Suicide Prevention Hotline.
